For over a decade, some voices in the mobility market have longed for the emergence of a single mobile vendor that could empower "all things mobile" for an enterprise buyer. Now with a more evolved vendor ecosystem and more experienced buyers, there is widespread recognition that this is a false promise. Similar to the web-based application market, the volume and variety of requirements is too massive for a single vendor to possibly tackle them all with high levels of proficiency. In 2012, we expect organizations, especially the largest ones, to incorporate within their mobility strategy a small set of mobile technology providers, each with distinct strengths and focus areas.
